The Family Book by Todd Parr
The Family Book by Todd Parr is one that I just finished reading for my second set of annotated bibliographies. It is a book about all different types of families such as single parent, two moms, two dads, bi-racial, step parents, big families, small families, families that live close together, families that live far apart and adopted children. It talks about how although families are different they still love each other, help each other and are happy or sad when certain things happen. The book also includes animals, bright colors and, kid handwriting and is funny, all of which will definitely keep little kids intersted. I would definitely recommend this book to be read to little children to show them diversity and that all families are not the same.

I also read this book. I really enjoy the message as well the the pictures. They were animated and silly, using a variety of colors. I liked that because sometimes when illustrators draw different races and ethnicities, they use stereotypical depictions. With this book, there were no stereotypes and children are able to think about families more abstractly and broadly instead of concretely. I would recommend this book as well.
